Women of the World Rotherham

We attended the amazing WOW Rotherham Festival ran by the international Women of the World Foundation charity as guest panellists for the WOW Big Ideas talk. The WOW Foundation runs festivals and events that celebrate women, girls and non-binary people and encourages discussion and solutions for change. We were honoured to be invited to discuss our work surrounding spiking and further gender-based violence that occurs in the night time economy.

We were amongst a wonderful panel of inspirational women who all brought their own intersecting perspectives on violence against women and girls. Our Co-Founders, Della and Elysia, were requested to attend the event to discuss our unique community-led dataset on spiking and safety whilst on a night out.

They discussed the current trends of spiking and sexual violence, their current work with venues as part of the Safe Place Project and answered insightful questions from the audience and fellow panellists. It was amazing to have such an engaged group of listeners who had plenty to ask in terms of night life safety and experiences to share. We helped the audience feel empowered to intervene in harmful situations by explaining our overt and covert intervention methods, which are the pillars of Effective Allyship.
