case study
Luminate Education Group

We came to speak to Luminate Education Groups Sexual Violence and Harassment working group about our findings from Spike Report.

Luminate Education Group is a group of education providers in the Leeds city region. They deliver education in further and higher education settings to make a positive difference to the lives of our students and apprentices, by delivering quality teaching and training opportunities that will improve their future.

After discussing the bespoke requirements of Luminate, we conducted research with our student community on the adverse effects of spiking on their mental health and education. Our shocking statistics were presented to the group alongside real life experiences disclosed to us from our following. Our community-led, data-led workshop demonstrated that spiking alongside sexual violence is detrimental to the student community.

'Not only were The Egalitarian able to provide some really hard hitting statistics about this form of violence, they were able to tailor their input to be relevant to the student population we serve. They provided tailored guidance about how we can ensure that we are safeguarding our students from this form of harm and our duty to protect. Their input has been extremely valuable in our response to sexual violence and harassment.' - Evie Stannard (She/Her), Student Safeguarding Manager
