SafeZone Student's Union Conference

We attended the SafeZone conference at the University of Salford to discuss student safety as part of SafeZone’s work with their innovative app. We ran two workshops with student’s union officers from around the UK to encourage important discussions and give guidance on safety in the student community.

Our first workshop covered effective allyship and how student’s unions can implement measures to encourage students to call out harmful behaviours and protect each other. We also discussed mechanisms that student’s unions can put in place to both prevent and respond to unacceptable behaviours including sexual harassment, sexual assault, hate crimes and hate incidents.

Important discussions were had regarding how we can create an environment where reporting is easy and empowering, we discourage sports teams from creating harmful settings and campaign for effective allyship from students.
